Our editorial approach
Understand the source. Ask better questions.
Insurance Genie publishes general insurance information, topic guides and tools to help readers prepare for a conversation with a licensed insurance professional. This page explains how to read our content, distinguish illustrative material from personal advice and raise a correction.

Bylines, profiles and professional review
Blog bylines link to contributor profiles containing their background and attributed articles. A contributor’s biography is background information, not proof that every page has received a separate licensed review. Where a specific reviewer is named on an article, that attribution applies to that article. We do not present a site-wide verification of professional review or licence status.
Read our contributor profiles alongside the article itself. Confirm a professional’s current authorization with the relevant provincial regulator before relying on personalized advice.
Dates and changing information
Use the publication and update information displayed on a page as context. An update date alone does not confirm that an insurer’s rates, underwriting rules or policy terms remain available. Follow linked sources and ask the provider handling your request to confirm current requirements. An article discussing an earlier year should be read in that historical context.
Quotes, examples and tools
Calculated illustrations use assumed amounts. They are not customer results, insurer quotes or market averages. A rotating example or refreshed calculation does not show live insurer activity. Our methodology explains the distinction between examples and sourced information.
Tools help organize questions or estimate a result from the inputs and assumptions shown. They do not issue policies, establish eligibility or confirm coverage. Compare policy wording, limits, exclusions and deductibles with a licensed professional before making a decision.
AI assistance and website images
This website uses AI-assisted content and generated illustrative artwork. AI assistance does not establish professional review or replace advice about your circumstances. Generated scenes do not depict actual clients, insured properties, offices or claim outcomes. Original Genie artwork, company logos and contributor portraits are retained alongside illustrative scenes.
Commercial relationships
Insurance Genie is an independent information and referral platform. Participating licensed providers handle insurance advice, quotations and policy placement. Read how we make money and the partners page for information about the organizations and relationships presented on this website.
Request a correction
If you notice an inaccurate statement, outdated source, incorrect attribution or broken reference, contact Insurance Genie. Include the page address, the wording in question and a supporting source where available. A submitted correction request is not a confirmation that a change has already been made.
Every page tells you who wrote it and who checked it.
If a page in scope is missing a reviewer, that is a defect. Tell us and we will fix it or pull it.
